Week of Action - June 15-21, 2020

United Way’s Day of Action on and around June 21 provides opportunities for individuals and groups to be part of solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives. Recognizing that COVID-19 changes what this year's Day of Action looks like, we are celebrating with a Week of Action to inform, thank, recruit and engage volunteers in virtual, remote and in-person activities that keep everyone healthy and safe and meet our community's need.

This Week of Action, we ask that you spend your time and talent on participating in one or several of the following volunteer opportunities that we are offering:

  • Diaper Drive hosted by UWMOC's Women United - donate diapers in any amount, any size, any brand
  • Virtual BINGO - take on tasks and activities to complete a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line
  • American Red Cross Blood Drives - click the link to find one of the drives below near you and register
    • Monmouth County: Wednesday, June 17th from 2pm-7pm - American Red Cross Jersey Coast Chapter, 1540 West Park Ave in Tinton Falls, NJ 07724
    • Ocean County: Tuesday, June 16th from 10am-3pm - County of Ocean Building, 129 Hooper Ave in Toms River, NJ 08753
    • Ocean County: Wednesday, June 17th from 2pm-7pm - Days Hotel by Wyndham, 290 NJ 37-E in Toms River, NJ 08753
  • United in Gratitude Project - write a note of thanks to a front-line hero
  • Shop for Seniors (Ocean County) - shop for groceries and deliver them to seniors who can not and should not leave their homes
  • Become a Blanketeer - create a no-sew blanket for a child in need of a warm hug
  • Virtual Food Drive - host a food drive right from your home to help local food pantries with the significant increase in need
  • Notes of Encouragement - write a note of encouragment to an isolated senior during this difficult time. Send to Jackie Liguori at for distribution
  • Pack Crisis Relief Boxes - volunteer with Fulfill in Neptune packing Crisis Relief Boxes while social distancing to help those in need due to school & summer camp closures and sheltering at home
