United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties (UWMOC) is pleased to announce the start of the 2019 Warmest Wishes Coat Drive for local pre-school, elementary and middle school children in need. The organization is collecting new winter coats in toddler sizes 3T-5T and children’s sizes Small – XLarge, as well as thermal-lined hoodies in adult sizes Medium – XLarge, to be distributed to local schools and UWMOC’s nonprofit partners. Sponsored by the FirstEnergy Foundation and New Jersey Resources, the Warmest Wishes Coat Drive works in conjunction with United Way’s Community Impact initiatives.
“When students don’t have warm clothes to wear in the winter weather, they arrive at school cold and emotionally unprepared for schoolwork,” says Ronnie Dougherty, Principal at Freehold Intermediate School. “With the help of United Way, this drive has provided coats to keep our students warm throughout the winter months. It’s so satisfying to see the look of joy on the face of a child who receives a new coat, and we are grateful to all those who participate.”
United Way will be hosting a Giving Tuesday event to collect donations on December 3, 2019 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the UPS Warehouse, 750 Hope Road in Tinton Falls. Donations will also be accepted at the United Way office located at 4814 Outlook Drive, Suite 107 in Wall Township until December 4, 2019. Can’t make it to the store? Cash donations and gift cards for the drive can be purchased at uwmoc.org/WarmestWishes.
